### Objective
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
1. Identify the basic parts of the mouth.
2. Recognize the materials used for mouth care.

### Materials Needed
- Diagrams or charts of the mouth
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- Mouthwash (optional)
- Floss
- Mirrors (small, one for each student if possible)
- Drawing paper and coloring materials
### Introduction (10 minutes)
1. **Greet and Settle Students**: Welcome the students and ensure they are comfortable and attentive.
2. **Hook**: Begin with a question to pique interest. "Who brushed their teeth this morning?" Encourage a show of hands.
3. **Introduce Objective**: Briefly explain what will be covered in the lesson. "Today, we are going to learn about the parts of our mouth and how to take care of them."
### Direct Instruction (15 minutes)
1. **Parts of the Mouth**:
- Use the diagram or chart to show and name the parts of the mouth: teeth, gums, tongue, and lips.
- Explain the function of each part in simple terms.
- Teeth: For chewing and breaking down food.
- Gums: Support and protect the teeth.
- Tongue: Helps in tasting and swallowing food.
- Lips: Help in speaking and keeping the food in our mouth.
2. **Materials for Caring for the Mouth**:
- **Toothbrush**: Show and explain the importance of using a toothbrush twice daily.
- **Toothpaste**: Talk about how it helps clean teeth and makes breath fresh.
- **Floss**: Introduce dental floss and its role in cleaning between the teeth.
- **Mouthwash** (if available): Explain its additional benefit in maintaining oral hygiene.
### Guided Practice (15 minutes)
1. **Demonstration**:
- Demonstrate the proper way to brush teeth using a toothbrush and toothpaste.
- Show how to use floss between teeth.
2. **Student Participation**:
- Hand out mirrors and ask the students to look at their own mouths and identify the parts.
- Let them practice the brushing technique with their own toothbrushes (without toothpaste for now).
### Activity (20 minutes)
1. **Drawing and Labeling**:
- Provide drawing paper and coloring materials.
- Ask the students to draw a big mouth and label the parts: teeth, gums, tongue, and lips.
- Help them add colors and details to their drawings.
- After they finish drawing, encourage them to show their work and explain to a partner.
